Páll Thormod Morrisson and Kára are traditional wedding celebrants hailing from Edinburgh, Scotland. They conduct legal wedding ceremonies in Edinburgh and the Lothians, Fife, south Perthshire, Glasgow City and the north Scottish Borders of Peebleshire. They are approved members of the Pagan Federation (Scotland)'s celebrancy register and Kára is registered as a legal celebrant with the General Register Office for Scotland.
Their backgrounds are similar in that they have both had a long spiritual link with the land.
Kára has been a Celtic traditional priestess for over 20 years and also has a deep interest in other native European traditions, including the Celtic, Norse and Greek traditions. She is a qualified medical herbalist who graduated from Edinburgh Napier University with a BSc Hons (1st Class) degree in Herbal Medicine in June 2010.
Páll has also been a Gođi (or Norse Scottish tradition lay priest) for over 20 years. The Morrisons or Clann Mac Gille Mhoire, Páll's clan, were the hereditary brieves or lawmen to the Lords of the Isles. The office of breitheamh (or brieve) covered all legal matters, including handfasting. Páll has studied the Celtic and Norse traditions as well as Taoism and Japanese Zen and is a runic scholar and also a woodcarver. His woodcraft reflects his fascination with ancient mythology and features sculptures of the Nordic and Celtic gods and heroes. Páll is also the author of 'The Viking Runes' published in January 2013 and available on Kindle from Amazon.com at www.amazon.com/THE-VIKING-RUNES-ebook/dp/B00AWF9DLK/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top or Amazon.co.uk at www.amazon.co.uk/THE-VIKING-RUNES-ebook/dp/B00AWF9DLK/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1360158901&sr=8-1
Together Kára and Páll can provide you with a beautiful romantic ceremony that is both traditional and uniquely personal. Unlike conventional church or registrar weddings, handfasting ceremonies allow you to add your own ideas and even vows. The ceremony is put together to suit you, whether you have a particular spiritual path or none. For those not particularly religious, the ceremony can reflect the old Celtic reverence for Nature and its blessings. Whatever your choice of ceremony style, they are here to help make your wedding day special and memorable.
Kára and Páll work together as a celebrant couple, however Kára is also available to work as an individual celebrant and has officiated at a number of Handfasting and vow renewal ceremonies.
If you are looking for a ceremony which is outwith the area in whichwe work, or if we are unavailable on your chosen date you can contact other approved Pagan handfasting celebrants in Scotland via www.scottishpf.org/celebrants.html
